S/MIME encryption for Thunderbird on Android
CipherMail for Android is a companion app for Thunderbird for Android. Used together, it adds S/MIME digital signatures and encryption to the email you send and receive in Thunderbird. Thunderbird handles your accounts, inbox, sending and receiving; CipherMail provides the S/MIME cryptography and certificate management.
CipherMail can also be used on its own to read messages. Open an encrypted or opaque-signed S/MIME message — for example a smime.p7m attachment — and CipherMail decrypts and verifies it so you can read it. No Thunderbird, account or inbox is required for reading.
Reading encrypted and signed messages this way works with any Android mail application that can hand off attachments, and is what many people use CipherMail for Android for today.
