Hyper-V
Users of CipherMail Professional or Webmail Messenger, should download the Hyper-V virtual machine from https://portal.ciphermail.com. For the community edition, download the HyperV version from https://www.ciphermail.com/downloads-virtual-appliance.html.
Unzip the virtual hard disk file (
.vhdx) to the location where all the virtual hard disks are stored.Create a new virtual machine.
Select “Generation 2”. The virtual hard disk also boots as a Generation 1 virtual machine.
Set memory to 2 GB (≥ 4 GB recommended)
Connect the network.
Select “Use an existing virtual hard disk” and select the gateway virtual disk.
Finish the “New Virtual Machine Wizard”, but do not start the virtual machine yet.
For a Generation 2 virtual machine, open the settings of the virtual machine and select “Security”. Either set the Secure Boot template to “Microsoft UEFI Certificate Authority” or disable Secure Boot. The default template, “Microsoft Windows”, only starts Windows, so the virtual machine does not start with it. With PowerShell:
Set-VMFirmware -VMName <name> -SecureBootTemplate MicrosoftUEFICertificateAuthority
Optionally, select more than one “Virtual Processor” (≥ 2 vCPUs recommended)
Start the virtual machine.
